In Switchcars, the player is given time to traverse a procedurally generated stage before the aliens catch up. This can be done by driving over 1,000 vehicles found on the way. The player can carry three vehicles at once, and switch between them at any moment.
Players combine vehicles to move as fast as possible, avoiding crunchy crashes with traffic and scenery. Environments change dramatically (from snowy highways, over mushy jungles, to sandy beaches) and vehicles players have might become useless so they have to change them often, and cleverly. In the spirit of action roguelites, rounds are short, but always different.
